per a discussion with dave last night...

It may be a pinch too early for this... but the Indians magic number is 25. For those interested, the magic number is calculated as follows:

let G=the total number of games in a season,
let CW=the total number of Cleveland wins,
let DL= the total number of Detroit losses

Magic # = G + 1 - CW - DL
Magic # = 162 +1 -76 - 62
Magic # = 25

Ergo, the magic number represents the total number of games that the Indians must win or that Detroit must lose in order for the Indians to clinch the Division Championship.

(The Tribe is on a 6 game win streak, tying their current season high for the 3rd time this year. They start a 3 game series against the struggling Chicago White Sox tonight!)
